It may seem hard to believe, but male proboscis monkeys use their fleshy, pendulous noses to attract mates!Īfter the excited Kawa-kawa river cruise, you will be heading back to the Kawa-kawa Jetty and enjoy your locally served buffet dinner. Proboscis Monkey is an arboreal monkey with a large nose, reddish-brown skin color and a long tail. The place offers a great spot for spotting Proboscis Monkey (Nasalis Larvatus) or long-nosed monkey. In addition, this kind of endangered monkey species lives only on the island of Borneo. Kawa-Kawa located about 112km northeast of Kota Kinabalu, surrounded by paddy fields and mangrove forests.
